When I was more

I wasn't just a body back then. I was more.
I played in sand
with trays of land
creating my own world as I went along.
I knew nothing of sex and validation.
I only cared for nature and friends,
never any temptations.
I wore what I desired.
I never had to worry it’d get me fired.
Now, at my clothes I yank and pull
to cover my sinful skin when my stomachs full.
I used to love the beach.
When it didn’t serve as a playground for those
who see me as an object just beyond their reach.
I miss the simplicity,
the tranquility
I miss the being of youth.
I wasn't just a body back then. I was more.
