Love For MeSamantha Drake-FlamJul 27, 20241 min readUpdated: Mar 15Love for me comes in all forms. It has been the deepest hunger I've felt to know someone, The motion of their breath, shape in the dark, deepest hurt. The fascination of ants as their bodies layer and lap,Looking like spilled coffee grounds in the split of the sidewalk. The swing that rocks and squeaks, as I taste the freedom of the wind and sky. Love for me is the sun that jumbles with the clouds,Like the cotton candy that used to dissolve on my tongue at the county fair. The giggles that now devour my belly, slushing with wine and the dark whisper of night.Love is the shared silence between my friends, As we drown in essays and readings. It's found in slow mornings with coffee and yoga,Interrupted with dog slobber and tail wags. Love is landing in my body, surrendering to the dream world. Love is tight hugs that hold my worries so I don’t have to. Love is everywhere–in the trees, the smile of a stranger, the intention of an orange peeled in one spiraling scoop. This is what love is for me.
